In the hot summer months, nothing feels better than cranking your car’s AC up as you go down the road. Keeping your car cool while keeping your AC in top condition requires work, but it’s not difficult to do. There are plenty of ways to keep your car cool.
1. Don’t Park in the Sun
If you can, park your car in the shade of a tree or in a parking garage. When you return to your vehicle, it won’t feel like an oven. If you can’t find a shady spot, then open your windows slightly to allow fresh air.
2. Don’t Go Full Blast
If you have a manual AC system, start it at its lowest setting before turning it up. Automatic systems do this already, and it will keep your air conditioning in better shape for a longer period of time. You should also refrain from getting your car as cool as possible in too short of a time, since your body can react adversely.
3. Keep Your Car Ventilated
You should also make sure that you have plenty of air circulating before the AC is turned on. All you have to do is keep the windows down and drive for a few minutes. Once the AC is on, switch it to re-circulation mode, which will make sure the AC only uses air inside the car.
